The Emissary ~

With his satchel filled and orders given, the Emissary begins his journey.
Traversing Cloven's wilderness seeking those to whom he carries information.
Highly confidential and presumably illustrious information, almost certain to be written in the most elaborate of cyphers.

Not a task for the languid or yielding.

Many messages come with strict timelines, precise instructions on the handling of said message and though seldom in it's occurrence, a handful of recipients and even a few consignors are not always the easiest to grapple with.

However, liable to his reticent trade, our 'lone wolf' must remain anonymous.

~

Presenting a talisman in his honor.

A strand of custom constructed vintage chain - comprised of elongated brass and textured steel links - holds a small vintage padlock and an antique brass buckle.
From there, more vintage steel chain drapes around two antique keys and a small amber vial, containing one such cryptic message.

The necklace measures 22" long including the lobster claw clasp.
The silver key measures 2" long.

This is a good book to read and understand how the European nations deployed their armies around the world to extract natural resources from other nations. Now, we have developing and underdeveloped nations.

Interesting book, dull period
Format: Paperback
As a Marxist historian, Hobsbawm sees the world at this time, as well as the modern world, as a playground for the forces of capitalism. He apologizes for taking a eurocentric approach to world history, while acknowledging that Europe largely determined the course of world events during this period. In spite of the title, there actually isn't much discussion of colonial empires; Hobsbawm seems more interested in how the Age of Empire affected the rulers more than the ruled. His Marxist sympathies are in evidence and at times make his conclusions a bit predictable, but some of his cultural critiques are quite brilliant. The chapter on the dilemmas posed by modern science is exceptional. Reading a book like this seems to me much more interesting than actually living in this period would have been.
