Q. Are Stihl air filters washable?

A. Yes, many Stihl air filters, including the 462 air filter, are washable. Before reapplying foam filter oil, you can clean them by gently rinsing the filter in warm, soapy water and letting it air dry entirely. Frequent cleaning guarantees that the filter will continue to efficiently collect debris and particles, preserving the best possible chainsaw performance.

Q. How often should I change the air filter on my Stihl chainsaw?

A. Use and operating circumstances determine how often you should replace the air filter in your Stihl chainsaw. It is advised to inspect and clean the air filter after every ten hours of use under typical circumstances. You might need to clean or change the filter more frequently if you work in an area that is especially dusty or unclean. For optimal results, always check the filter and replace it when it gets too dirty or broken.
