The design of the 1:50 000 Map Series provides a clear and accurate portrayal of topographic information, with symbols and map content giving enhanced depiction of buildings, hill shading and a simplified classification of vegetation.

The fertile agricultural lands and timber production forests around Scottsdale are covered in the west of this map. The North East Rail Trail extends eastwards from Scottsdale for 26 kilometres to Billycock Hill. The quaint riverside village of Derby, once a booming tin mining settlement, is located further east on the Tasman Highway. Today Derby is renowned for its world class mountain biking tracks, set amongst enormous granite slabs and dense tree fern forests. This map is ideal for mountain biking enthusiasts or walkers exploring the numerous regional reserves in the area.
